Write a short story about your favorite place to read (either now or when you were a kid).
Example: My favorite place to read when I was 10 years old was under a "blanket tent" in our backyard. In the summer, my friends and I would ride our bikes to the library downtown and choose books for the next two weeks. We usually finished them long before they were due to be returned, so we traded them with each other. After the library, we would stop by the Ben Franklin store and buy penny candy. Then we headed home to devour our candy and our books. We loved to read outside, so the first thing we did when we arrived home was to get blankets and clothespins and build a tent along the fence. When it was finished we would climb inside and each find our spot to sit, lie, or sprawl and begin reading, sharing the candy we had each purchased earlier. Many days turned into nights and after we had all eaten dinner and finished the dishes, we often returned to the tent with flashlights and bug spray for an overnight reading marathon. I have to say, I still love to cover myself completely with a blanket and start up my Kindle and read in my own "blanket tent". |
